Terms of Use

Last updated: April 26, 2026

These Terms govern your access to and use of facts.ng. By using the site you agree to them.

Acceptance of these Terms

facts.ng (the "Service", "we", "our", "us") is operated as an open encyclopaedia of Nigerian knowledge. By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

These Terms apply to all visitors, registered users, and developers who use our public API.

Use of content

Content on facts.ng — including articles, state and ministry profiles, images, and data exposed through our public API — is curated for educational and informational purposes.

You may read, share, cite, and link to our content for personal, educational, or non-commercial use, provided that you give clear credit to facts.ng and link back to the source page where reasonably possible. Bulk republication, commercial redistribution, or use of our content to train machine learning models requires our prior written permission.

Acceptable use

When using the Service you agree not to:

- attempt to disrupt, overload, or damage the Service or any related infrastructure;
- circumvent rate limits, authentication, or other technical controls (including those documented on our Developer API page);
- scrape, crawl, or harvest content other than through the public endpoints we provide and within their published limits;
- upload or submit unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or deceptive content through any form on the site, including the Contact Us form;
- impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with one;
- use the Service to violate any applicable law or the rights of any third party.

Accuracy and corrections

We work hard to keep facts.ng accurate, but we do not warrant that the information on the Service is complete, current, or free from errors. Content may be updated or removed at any time without notice.

If you spot an inaccuracy, please tell us via the Contact Us form. We review every report and correct verified errors as quickly as we can.

Intellectual property

The facts.ng name, logo, design, original written content, and code are owned by facts.ng and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Names, marks, photographs, and emblems of third parties (including the Federal Republic of Nigeria, its states, ministries, public figures, and other organisations) referenced on facts.ng remain the property of their respective owners and are used for identification and editorial purposes only.

Third-party links and content

Our pages may link to third-party websites, news sources, or services that we do not control. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of those third parties, and inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement. You access third-party sites at your own risk.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the Service is free of viruses or other harmful components.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, facts.ng and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

Account terms

Some features may require you to create an account. When you do, you agree to provide accurate information, to keep your credentials secure, and to be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

The Service is not intended for children under 13. By creating an account you confirm that you are at least 13 years old.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, that we reasonably believe are being used to abuse the Service, or that have been inactive for an extended period.

Termination

We may, at our sole discretion, suspend or terminate your access to all or part of the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason — including a breach of these Terms.

You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (such as Intellectual property, Disclaimers, and Limitation of liability) will continue to apply.

Governing law

These Terms and any dispute arising from your use of the Service are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nigeria for any matter that cannot be resolved informally.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on the site where appropriate. Continued use of the Service after a change indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
