About Kano State

Kano State is located in the north-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria. It is one of the most populous states in the country and home to the oldest city in Nigeria — Kano, which has been a major centre of trade, Islamic scholarship, and culture for over 1,000 years. The famous Kano ancient city walls and the Kurmi Market are among its most important historical landmarks. The state is known for leather work, textiles, groundnut production, and as a hub of northern commerce.
