About Abuja (FCT) State

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja was purpose-built as Nigeria's new capital, replacing Lagos in 1991. Located at the geographic centre of Nigeria, Abuja was designed to be more accessible and neutral for all Nigerians. The city is home to major government institutions, international embassies, and prestigious residential areas. Its most iconic landmark is Aso Rock, a 400-metre monolith overlooking the city, next to which the Presidential Villa (Aso Rock Villa) is located.
